DMPTool Service Update – July 2012
Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities
There were 34 new users from UC campuses in June, bringing the total to 482 UC users. UC users have created 397 data management plans since the service began in Oct 2011. Overall, there are over 2615 users of the DMPTool who’ve created 2195 data management plans.
The DMPTool Steering committee met in Charlottesville VA July 23-24 to discuss governance and sustainability. Representatives from CDL, UCLA, UCSD, University of Illinois, University of North Texas, Smithsonian Institution, and Educopia Institute. We are seeking additional funding from a number of sources to fund future planning and development.
Planned Network Outage, Sunday August 26
IMPORTANT: There will be a planned network outage on Sunday, August 26 that will cause total interruption of many of our services. We will post a more detail schedule of the outage to the CDLALERT-L listserv and to appropriate user groups and listservs. The most recent CDLAlert issued and the CDLALERT-L Archive are viewable on CDL’s System Status page at http://www.cdlib.org/contact/system.html.
Shibboleth Login:
4 universities configured their Shibboleth identity providers for the DMPTool in June, bringing the total to 57. This includes 7 UC campuses and UCOP, along with 5 CSU campuses, one CSU lab, and Cal Poly. A map of participating organizations is available here: http://bit.ly/L85sKj.
DMPTool Service Description
The Data Management Plan Tool (DMPTool) provides an easy to use interface that:
- Helps users create ready-to-use data management plans for specific funding agencies
- Meets funder requirements for data management plans
- Provides step-by-step instructions and guidance for how to manage data
- Provides information about resources and services available at your institution to help fulfill the data management requirements of your grant
