Resource Sharing
The Resource Sharing team manages the integration of software systems that facilitate UC consortial and extra-consortial resource sharing.
Starting on July 27th, 2021, requests for library material not available at your campus will be handled in UC’s primary discovery platform “UC Library Search”, powered by Ex Libris PrimoVE, as part of the UC Libraries’ Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS) project. The “Request” program, launched from Melvyl and UC-eLinks, will be retired on this date.
The Resource Sharing team’s custom integrations with UC Library Search facilitates fast and convenient interlibrary loan (ILL) for UC faculty, students, and staff. Users can use these tools to order materials not found in the UC system.
How do users benefit?
- Speed of getting needed material to the requestor. Physical items can be delivered to the requestor’s choice of locations in the UC Library network. Many requests for journal articles can be delivered via the web.
- Ease of getting needed material. The user places a request in UC Library Search, the system finds the desired material whether or not it’s found at the requestor’s own campus library or even anywhere in the UC system.
