Marcus is the head of the Shared Cataloging Program which is based at UCSD. His work involves troubleshooting (Why is a link for a different ebook appearing under this title?), data analysis (Which titles overlap in two different ebook collections?) and figuring out how to implement projects (How can we import metadata from ProQuest into the library services platform and then export changes to eScholarship?).
The SCP team loads records for licensed and open access resources and provides original and enhanced cataloging for journals and databases. We also work to provide accurate, reliable links to these resources.
SCP’s bibliographic records help make UC e-resources findable in UC Library Search. Whether users are searching by title, author, topic or keywords, descriptive metadata helps users find known items (a journal or an ebook) and additional materials related to their research.
Some of the ebook packages we work on include JSTOR DDA, government publications (federal and state), National Academies Press, and Chinese-language ebooks including Airiti and CNPe.
