Head of CDL Shared Cataloging Program

The University of California San Diego Library seeks a motivated, creative and collaborative applicants to join the Library as the Head of the Shared Cataloging Program (SCP), a California Digital Library (CDL) Unit based in the Metadata Services Program at UC San Diego. This position will provide metadata expertise and oversight for CDL licensed or selected open access electronic collections from a wide variety of disciplines. Primarily under the direction of the program director for the Metadata Services Program (MS) at the UC San Diego Library, and receiving work direction from the the Assistant Director of Systemwide Licensing and Collection Services at CDL, the head of the CDL Shared Cataloging Program (SCP) provides leadership for, and management of, bibliographic data to the ten UC campuses for shared licensed and selected open access electronic resources, provides general oversight and coordination of operations, workflows, and special projects and promotes the continuous improvement of work processes and staff development. The Head of SCP also provides direct supervision to two staff members, coordinates the work of two librarians, and indirectly oversees student employees. The position will actively participate in the CDL Electronic Resource Team efforts on determining the strategies and best practices of effectively and efficiently managing electronic collections.
